The Research Education, Training and Career Development Core provides the structure and guidance for academic programs offered to students to pursue advanced degrees in clinical and translational sciences. A new approach to education and training is key to accelerating discoveries and the rapid translation of these discoveries into clinical practice that improves patient care. This core is designed to enhance the development of future faculty members and to help train future investigators.
In addition, the core offers pre-doctoral and postdoctoral training awards in the form of KL2 grants.
Another key component of the core is its mentoring program, matching associate faculty members with faculty scholars. In creating this network, the core encourages the networking of faculty across disciplines and levels of research experience. This networking provides junior faculty members with help in navigating the complex research landscape and assists in solidifying career and research goals with the advice of more experienced colleagues.
This core also leads efforts in attracting speakers and coordinating workshops and other training seminars to offer faculty relevant information and expertise relating to clinical and translational research.
