Translational Workforce Development resources compile and provide information, sources, programs and other enterprise-wide clinical research assets, which can be readily drawn upon to accomplish an activity and function effectively. Below are several resources for online clinical research professional development.
The Wright Center’s Translational Workforce Development Kaltura channel provides a central platform for recorded events, like SOCRA Central Virginia Chapter meetings and Clinical Research Skills Series workshops, as well as other TWD training and educational videos.
Clinical research Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) serve as a core set of procedures for research teams and outline uniform best practices. VCU employees can access them here. And researchers external to VCU can access them by completing this form.
The Joint Task Force for Clinical Trial Competency is an international team of investigators, educators and clinical research professionals committed to providing guidance and tools to ensure professional competency of all research team members.
VCU partners with the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program to provide institutionally required Good Clinical Practice and Human Subject Protection Training. The CITI Program also offers online, no-cost trainings, including a Clinical Research Coordinator Basic and Advanced series.
The NIH Office of Clinical Research offers several multimedia online trainings with certificates upon successful completion. Courses include Principles and Practice of Clinical Research, Pharmacology, and Ethical and Regulatory Aspects of Clinical Research.
The HHS Office of Research Integrity offers multiple research misconduct video case summaries, interactive video and online training on topics including responsible conduct of research, ethics, and basic concepts for new research staff.
The Trial Innovation Network (TIN) is a collaborative initiative within the Clinical and Translational Science Award Program focusing on operational innovation, operational excellence and collaboration. An archive of past webinars including presentation slides and screencasts on an array of clinical research topics is available in the archive section of the events page. The TIN toolbox includes resources for conducting engagement, recruitment, and retention activities for clinical trials.
The Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) provides a variety of online training options on the SOCRA conference and education section of their website.
